Partially solving a parent's concern
When it became clear that my son (now over 30) would act on his long stated aim to become a motorbike rider, and knowing that he knew all the risks, i decided to see what i could do to assist him to minimize those risks.
Asking around i got into a discussion with a taxi driver in Brisbane (Qld, Australia) who was in his 50's and had been a motor bike rider in his earlier years and again now that his family had grown up. He struck me as a sensible man, who knew what he was talking about.
He highly recommended "Proficient Motorcycling" by David Hough, and also "More Proficient Motorcycling." One thing at a time i thought, and ordered it from Amazon that evening. He also recommended, as my son had taken a short course on riding, to do an advanced course.
The feedback from my son is the book is exactly what he needed and excellent.
As a parent (who has never ridden a motorcycle and known a few who have who are no longer with us, or damaged in the process) this book has provided me with a little bit of the feeling that i have done what i can to ensure safe riding for my son.
Very good guide
Very good book. Excellent book to supplement the motorcycle course. I would still recommend taking the course to anyone interested in riding a motorcycle and this book is a great addition to the course.
Riding better already 
I bought this book based on some feedback on a motorcycle riding forum that I belong to. I have not taken my MSF yet, but reading the book I am already learning tips and tricks that have helped me ride better and safer.

Great book. If you want to improve your riding skills, look no further, this is a must have.

I agree with all the 5 star ratings. The publisher listened, the new publication doesn't lose pages, the photos, mostly color, are completely relevent and show a situation to avoid. If they look like plain ole pictures perhaps you need to reread the section the picture is in. I'm 5 and have ridden since I was 16 and there were things here for me to learn. I like to say it's all about the ride, and for me, making it home to ride again.
