Product Description
Do you think that healthy food couldn't possibly taste good? Does the idea of "eating healthy" conjure up images of roughage and steamed vegetables? Author Ellie Krieger, host of Food Network's Healthy Appetite, will change all that. A registered dietitian, Ellie is also a lover and proponent of good, fresh food, simply but deliciously prepared. And she's not about denial--no nonfat foods here, because when you take the fat out of natural foods, in go the chemicals. Don't deny yourself butter--use a pat of it, but put it front and center on those mashed potatoes, so you can revel in it with all your senses. The Food You Crave is all you'll need to change the way you eat and change the way you feel. It contains 200 recipes that cover every meal of the day and every craving you might have. Every recipe contains a complete nutritional breakdown, as well as tips on ingredients and techniques that will keep you eating smart and eating well.
Good recipes! ![]()
When I bought "Cook Yourself Thin", this cookbook was recommended. I've never watch Elie Krieger's show on the food network, but it got good ratings, so I figured that I'd try it. I only made the turkey meatloaf so far--which was pretty awesome. In looking @ the other recipes, though, these recipes seem to be less stringent than the 'Cook Yourself Thin" recipes. Although Elie's recipes still have healthier, low-cal substitutions, they read like real recipes would read (especially the baked goods), which makes me feel that they will make a better product. The only reason for 4 stars is that I haven't made enough of the recipes to give it a higher rating.

I got this book slightly on a whim. My mom called me and said the book sounded like something I would like since I strive to cook with out any additives, preservatives, and get the most nutrition out of the meal, WHILE still being yummy. That goal is perfectly met by this book. EVERY meal I've made from it has been good. I've made at least ten things, and everyone has been a total winner. The two muffins in here are to die for (why are there only two?!). The buckwheat blueberry pancakes = yum. The corn veggie soup= souper yum! Meatball hero sandwich= yum yum! And the list goes on and on. Easy to make, well laid out recipes, not hard to get of ingredients at all. The whole thing is well worth getting and trying to cook from for a couple weeks. All the meals are very pretty as a bonus. It makes it much easier to feel proud of, and excited to serve.
The cookbook you'll use ![]()
I am getting ready to buy my fourth copy of this cookbook. I keep giving them away because I want famiy and friends to have it. It has great but still easy to make recipes; it has great pictures; it provides ideas for the entire meal. And, if that's not enough, it provides nutrition and calorie information.
