Amazing heart warming story of a dog and his family
This is one great book. The story is entertaining, heartwarming and sob worthy. You will look at your dog in a new light. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves dogs or just loves a great book.
Fun and easy read...
This is coming from someone who stopped reading for enjoyment after reading those dry textbooks in her University days. I picked this book thanks to my sister. After reading the first chapter (the chapters are pretty short) at the bookstore, I knew I would enjoy reading the rest of the book.
The writing flows, hence the book being an easy read. I never realized a book could be this enjoyable from a dog's pov. You'll find better reviews here, but I wanted to review it as someone who just picked up reading again. I'm glad I did and now I wonder if my cat has similar thoughts as Enzo.

Just an amazing and intriguing story that will touch everybody, not just animal lovers! A total page turner for anybody that loves a good read. Entrust in Enzo, he's a fantastic storyteller.
more than just a "dog story"
Stein has created a warm-hearted, suspenseful, literary novel, told entirely from a dog's perspective.
Without giving away the story, this is a work about life: love, loss, death, forgiveness, triumph through adversity, and joy.
"The Art of Racing in the Rain" is Garth Stein's metaphor for life, but there are many metaphors and similes, making this novel one to savor, enjoy and remember.
I have written a few reviews on amazon.com since I read a lot of books. But, I don't often read a novel that makes such an impact as did this one.
This book is a wonderful read!!
Great Life Lessons From A 'Fictional' Dog
As always, I do not spend time repeating reviews you have already read, but instead, tell you my 'feelings' about books.
I enter the book store and, as always, start my trek to the History section. but on the way, my eyes glance over and see this book. I really don't read much fiction but after glancing at a few pages, knew I had to read this one.
What an amazing story! "Enzo" has more wisdom than most any human I have ever met. You must read it for yourself and then sit back and ponder all this old dog has to say.
I'll finish my review with this statement. "I closed the book, got into my car and drove to the cemetery where my mother and sister are buried. As I entered, there was this sign that said 'No Dogs Allowed.' I thought to myself, 'If they only knew.' I stood at the graves of my loved ones and cried because I missed them. That wasn't the only reason, though. I cried because Enzo had not been around to teach me how I should have appreciated them."
This is a book of fiction that I have chosen to accept as a book of fact.
